Presbyopia

Definition

Presbyopia is a vision condition where the crystalline lens of your eye loses its flexibility that makes focusing on the close object difficult.
This condition happens around 40 years of age and to everyone at the some point in life,even those who have never had a vision problem before.

Symptoms and Signs of Presbyoia;

> Blurred vision at normal reading distance

> Eyestrain or headache when doing close work for long periods

> To hold reading materials at arms length

How to correct?

Presbyopia is a continuous process to change the ability of the crystalline lens to focus properly,therefore periodic changes in prescription may be necessary to maintain clear and comfortable vision.

Without optical correction,the amplitude of accommodation is insufficient to meet the need in vision demands.

To solve or compensate for presbyopia,there are a few spectacles correction options available.

1.Reading glasses or single vision

They are typically worn just during close work.Its becomes necessary to switch spectacles or peer over the top of your frames to see into the distance.Mass-produced readers,though still widely use and useful to some,no longer fit everyone's requirements.

2.Bifocal lenses

Bifocals consist of two ponts of focus: Distance and Near.But,the area between (intermediate) remains blurred,and there is an unflattering line across your spectacles.

3.Progressive Addition Lenses

The best solution for you as they combine sections for near,intermediate and distance vision,with smoothly graduated through the lens with no visible lines within the lenses as compared to Bifocals.
