Diabetic Retinopathy

Many diabetics develop diabetic-related changes in the retina,including damage to the blood vessels;these changes are known as Diabetic Retinopathy:

1. Non-proliferative

* Leaking of blood vessels

* Swelling of retina

* Fat deposits

2.Proliferative

* New vessels

* Bleeding

* Scarring

Symptoms

# Blurred vision

# 'Floaters' and flashes of light

# Sudden loss of vision

# Dark streaks or a red film that block vision

# A dark or empty spot in the center of your vision

# Poor night vision

Treatment

> Laser surgery

> Vitrectomy

> Cryotherapy

> Retinal repair
