Deal With Problem People

> No one enjoys having to deal with problem people

> But what to do?....being a people in the community (whether as a boss or follower) require you to do a lot more than simple order people around.So,you need to use your communication skills and also COMMON SENSE that will solve most of your problems and difficult situations.

> For the few people you can't handle,don't be afraid to ask for help from others.

> If the people comes to you with a personal problem,don't be too quick to send her/him to other party or expert.You're the first line of defend and a little compassion and patient listening may be all that's needed.

>Here are some recommendation for handling problem people.:


1.Talk to the person about problem privately.

2.Be specific about the problem. eg:"What's going on?"

3.Be willing to listen.

4.Giving advice is optional.

5.Know what help available and where to find it.

6.Realize you're there to help.Be willing to go extra mile to see the individual get help.

7.Don't react to the people anger.

8.Find out what you can do to help.

9.Be sure the people knows the rules.

10.Be sure people is aware of your expectation about behaviour,attitude and discipline,etc.

11.Be specific and address the behaviour,not the person.

12.Remain unemotional and treat it as a working/business problem,not a personal problem alone.

13.Follow the steps your organisation established for problem /action taken.

14.Be alert to honest attempts to settle the problem/improve the situation.

15.Accentuate the positive.

16.Don't ignore problem.

17.Always protect the confidentially of the people of personal problem.


>.In summary,when deal with problem people:

a)Be fair and direct

b)Counsel in private.

c)Don't delay taking action.

d)Know where to get professional help for specific kind of problem.

e)Be sure to follow up.

f)Always positive.

>If you do the above guidelines quickly and throughly you will reduce problem with people considerably
