LEADERSHIP AND TEAM

1.Each team/organisation consist of a collection of individuals working together towards the achievement of a common goal.

2.To be successful,each member of the team/group must be fully committed to the goal and must be aware of how their individual roles contribute towards its achievement.

3.To succeed a team/group must have the following qualities:

> A clear goal

> Skill

> Dedication

4.Do you think of yourself as a leader?

Most of us are leaders,because we have friends,work colleagues,and familly who will look to us with respect.
The more respect they have for us the greater the responsibility of our leadership role.

5.There are a number of important ways that you can become a better leader so that you and your team move closer to the achievement of your goals.

6.Qualities of leadership are numerous; e.g self control,sympathy and understanding,courage,a sense of justice and fairness,a pleasing personality,a willingness to do more than the minimum required,a willingness to assume greater responsibility,a desire to seek co-operation from everyone involved in the achievement of the goals,and are clear vision of the goals and the plans required to achieve those goals.

7.The first step to becoming a better leader is simply to recognise that you are a leader.

8.Take responsibility for your own actions and help those around you achieve their goals.

9.Clearly you will need to depend on others to help you achieve your goals.

10.Exercise positive leadership and you will gain greater respect and co-operation from those around you.Family and close friends have important part to play in achieving success.

11.Leaders must be close enough to relate to others,but far enough ahead to motivate them.

12.Leadership actually supplying energy (personality and values),the signals (communication among follower) & the examples (form of actions suppose to take) to make sure all activities/cooperation among individu to achieve the goal.

13.Four Levels of Leadership

(1) Personal-Trustworthiness

(2) Interpersonal- Trust

(3) Managerial- Empowerment

(4) Organizational- Alignment

14.Leadership task:

-point the way
-are visionary thinker
-plan work programmes
-execute strategy
-exercise authority
-possess imagination
-work hard
-analyse situation
-organise people
-motivate others
-spot opportunities
-set examples
-make decisions
-use expertise
-make change
-take risks
-take responsibility
-achieve goal.

15.As a leader you must know to use these resources:MAN,MONEY,MATERIAL,MACHINE,METHOD,MARKET and MENTAL.
